When does the diamond need to be changed?

Indications the diamond needs to be replaced are:

• While dressing the wheel you get a lot of skipping and inconsistent contact with the wheel, indicating that the diamond is no longer. 
• Having to dress the wheel more frequently (every other pair of skates) compared to what you’re used to. 
• If its taking longer to sharpen a skate than normal.
• Not getting as nice of a finish on the blade as you usually do. 
• Visual inspection of the diamond. Tip of diamond is not easily visible.
