Hockey skate manufacturers use rivets to hold the skate blade holder onto the skate boot. During skating, the force applied loosens the rivets. Additionally, rust and corrosion can affect rivets. The good news is these rivets can be replaced. Blademaster sells all the equipment you need to replace rivets.
Steel or Copper?
There are two primary types of rivets used on hockey skates – copper and steel.
COPPER rivets are usually reserved for the high-torque areas of the blade holder. They tend to be stronger and can withstand greater forces. Normally they are seen on the heel portion of the holder. However copper rivets tend to be more expensive.
STEEL rivets are usually used everywhere else on the skate holder.
Often the blending of BOTH copper and steel rivets is the optimal and most affordable solution.
