When does the diamond need to be changed?

Indications the diamond needs to be replaced are:

While dressing the wheel you get a lot of skipping and inconsistent contact with the wheel, indicating that the diamond is no longer.
Having to dress the wheel more frequently (every other pair of skates) compared to what you’re used to.
If its taking longer to sharpen a skate than normal.
Not getting as nice of a finish on the blade as you usually do.
Visual inspection of the diamond. Tip of diamond is not easily visible.
